Family Legacy
Mouton’s Transfer was Founded by Fernand Mouton in 1921 in Port Arthur, Tx.
Fernando’s wife, Theotise Viator’s family was already owner operators of a successful moving business in South Louisiana. In the early days Fernand moves family’s around Port Arthur and back and forth to Louisiana. In addition to furniture they moved cattle and other livestock and Coal from the Texas Company later known as Texaco. In an era where homes were heated with Coal, Moutons stayed busy delivering to many customers homes. Of course this made a mess in back of the open steak bed moving truck. The clean up afterwards was grueling and left up to one of Fernands sons. That lucky son was George A Mouton. When he started working with his dad on the truck he was a young boy. In 1936 George took the business over. George Mouton and his wife grew and ran the business until he retired in 1981. For the next two years George did moves for repeat customers on a part time basis. He just had a hard time making the transition to full blown retirement when all he had known all his entire life was work. In 1983 George’s nephew Kevin W Mouton officially took the business over. Kevin had been around the moving industry since he was born. His Uncle George would put Kevin on dollies and push him around the warehouse and parking lot. Kevin would stand on the truck seat next to his Uncle George with his arm around Uncle George’s neck while driving to and from moving jobs. At age 5 Kevin would carry pillows and things that he could carry. He thought he was really something! 14 years later Kevin was owner of the business and expanded its services to include Packing, crating, overseas shipping and long distance moving across the continental United States. Kevin has been a member of the South West Movers and Warehouse Association, Texas Mini Storage Association, National Mini Storage Association and served on the South East Texas Ryder Truck Rental Dealer Board. Mouton Transfer has been truck rental dealers for Uhaul, Ryder, Budget and Heartz Penske truck rentals. In 2017 Kevin Mouton partnered up with one of his four son n laws Joshua D Connor. Since their partnering up they have expanded their services to NLR Arkansas where they now have an office and warehouse. They have purchased property in Galveston to build on and currently office out of the historic Cotton building. They have a small warehouse in Texas City and are in the early planning stages of opening in Beverly Hills California. |
